A God Fearing Catholic That Loved Serving The Lord. May Her Soul Rest In Peace
September 2, 1967 - September 15, 2023
This is the story of who Hedwig Ngonda Fonki Skains was.
Hedwig was a God-fearing, loving, caring, and compassionate wife and mother. She was loved by many: her church, her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends, who she left behind to mourn and celebrate a life well lived. Hedwig always use to say, " I know I am Gods favorite." Though her life was cut short, she lived her best life in every aspect- she travelled the world, blessing and praying over others, and most importantly, she was the best mother and grandmother, she could be. Hedwig was a proud mom of four: her eldest son Neville, middle daughters Tessa and Stella, and her youngest son Giovanni. Hedwig loved her 3 beautiful grandchildren, Sapphire, Emmanuela, and Jaiden. She was married to her husband, Phillip Skains, for the last 17 years. We all love and miss Hedwig very much. If you ever got a chance to meet her, then you know she always remained smiling and praying. When it came to serving The Lord Hedwig was one of Gods favorite. Now, her beautiful soul is resting peacefully with Our Heavenly Father.
Ngonda, as she was called, was the fifth of nine children from Rosaline Manda Fonki and Anthony Kalngoh Fonki(of blessed memory). She grew up in a loving home with her brothers and sisters: Perpetua, Edel, Judith, Anselm, Prudentia, Julius, Emmanuel, and Micheal. Though the Fonki family is from the Beba tribe in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, Hedwig was born and raised in the city of Kumba. She then travelled to Yaoundé, Cameroon for Higher Education, and later gave birth to her eldest son, Neville, and eldest daughter, Tessa, in Yaoundé, Cameroon. On June 6, 1996, Ngonda immigrated to the United States of America. She was very family oriented person, always trying to reach out and support her relatives both at home and abroad. Her quest to expand to expand the family's presence in the U.S. led her to bringing her two nephews and mother to America. She very much believed in Education and reaching potentials. Originally getting her law degree in Cameroon, she came to the United States and got a bachelors in biology at Texas Southern University and another in teaching. Her family will continue to love her and celebrate a life well spent.
Mrs. Skains met her lovely husband, Mr. Phillip Skains in Houston, Texas where they were married for many years, until God called her home. She was a proud woman of God and loved her husband and kids very dearly. Though she was the jack of all trades, Mrs. Skains true passion was being an entrepreneur. Together with her husband, she ran a success tax company, Bandurs Enterprises, and was also a proud member of WFG community where she taught people how to become financially free. She was a member of the Catholic Charismatic Center where she served and worshiped The Lord for many years.
She was sick for a short period of time until the good Lord called his faithful servant home. Mrs. Skains legacy continues on through her children and grandchildren. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
